Two new international border checkpoints will be opened near Braslav lakes to promote tourism, BelTA learnt from Alexander Tishchenko, head of the press centre of the State Border Committee of Belarus.
In his words, the border service plans to open the two new border checkpoints in order to facilitate access to the Braslav lakes for foreign tourists. To make it possible, Belarusian-Lithuanian border checkpoints Moldevichi-Adutiskis and Vidzy-Tviariacius, which are now accessible to local residents of the two countries, will be reconstructed as international road border checkpoints. The time it takes will depend on how fast the local authorities will complete the reconstruction, said the source.
Apart from that, Alexander Tishchenko said efforts are being exercised to open a Belarusian-Polish international road border checkpoint Sofiyevo-Lipshany. In the near future road border checkpoint Peschatka, which is located at the Belarusian-Polish border as well, will be reconstructed to become an international border checkpoint. |
