The emblem of Polotsk has been in use since the 16th century. It is shaped as a French shield featuring a three-mast ship against sky-blue background sailing on silver water.

The historic emblem was reestablished by the Polotsk Town Council on May 13, 1994.

The flag of Polotsk is a 1x2 square cloth with three isometric vertical lines: two blue lines along the edges and a white in the middle featuring the ancient Polotsk emblem.

The flag was established by the Presidential Decree on November 20, 2006.
